We were driving home from Flagstaff. The kids wanted pizza so we from this place on Yelp. Ordered our pizza to go. I was shocked at how inexpensive this place was. The service was great and the pizza tasted amazing. So glad we found this place. It will be our go to stop!!

12/30/2010 It wasn't my first choice but we ate there and did not get sick. pros: - service - the one and only food joint in a radius of approx. 5 miles - they have pizza cons: - wait time for 1 "calzone" (or something that bore some vague resemblance to a calzone) and 1 lasagna (its taxonomy notwithstanding...) - the food itself: the "lasagna" - happily swimming in a pool of its own (?) grease and yearning to land under more appreciative sets of olfactory and visual sensors. - the "calzone": I swear, it had precisely the same exact taste as the lasagna, meaning none. - salad: straight out of the bag with no radishes, mushrooms or olives and a packet of dressing on the side. Seeing the rest of the reviews, I guess there is a possibility we might have been the unlucky ones... - weird location, weird decor (a sort of paradise lost with a creepy monkey fixation) All in all, quite a weird day too.

As good as it gets for pizza in Camp Verde. Plus the antipasto salad is wonderful. We don't live in Camp Verde but we almost always stop in here any time were passing through...you should too!

We came here because it was close to the hotel and highly reviewed. Plusses: smells amazing, adorable murals, friendly staff. Minuses: the pizza. The cheese was basic and OK. The sauce was practically nonexistent. The crust was almost just a loaf of white bread. It managed to be ridiculously thick, like 99% of the pizza thick, while simultaneously wimpy enough to collapse under the weight of the toppings. I so rarely indulge in pizza, and when it's this disappointing, I feel really ripped off. It was just like eating a ton of bread. The main flavor was from the red pepper I sprinkled on top. The pizza was cut in a crazy way, so that no two slices were the same size, and so that there were two cheese pieces on each pizza that ended up with pepperoni on them. The kitchen screwed up our order so we ended up getting 2 pizzas for the price of one, but in the long run, I would have rather had none of this pizza. We also had a salad, which was pretty plain. The dressing came in foil packs. The salad was the best part of the meal. The staff is great. This restaurant was jam packed, with most tables full and a brisk takeaway business filing in and out, and there were only 2 women up front, waiting tables and running the register. These ladies are to be commended and tipped well. I usually visit Camp Verde once a year, but I will not be eating here again.

Stopped by this place with my group after a long hot hike at Fossil Creek. The place is definitely divey, but that's just the fun of it all. We went for the Crusty Deluxe and a Pineapple & Ham pizza. The deluxe came with bacon, green bell peppers, onions, and pepperoni. Overall, a nice mix and the dough itself was very Pillsbury-like. In the end, I felt like something coming out of a can and placed in the oven. Not necessarily a bad thing cause home-made food is definitely welcomed to my palate! What really got to me was the service. They were booked, but were able to handle our group of 13. Our server was snappy and quick to the punch. I was somewhat of being belligerent in a fun way, but with every remark she came back with something snippy, which I can definitely appreciate. Overall, great pizza dive to grab a quick bite and beer with a service one could only wish they had every time they go out for dinner - wink! - Enjoy!

This OC girl has found a gem! I travel a lot, have tried many restaurants while on the highway, and work brought me to Camp Verde, and wouldn't you know it, I found a gem! I'm not sure of they even know about Yelp, that's how secluded this place is, but the pizza is amazing! Ingredients are fresh, portions are huge, place is a hole in the wall, but the staff is amazingly friendly!! Where is Triple D when you need them! I'll be back!!

The first time we ate here the pizza was great. The 2nd & 3rd time we were very disappointed in the pizza. The crust was about 2" into the pizza which left very little pizza to eat. Not sure I will give them another chance.

Chances are, you will never ever eat at this place, but if you happen to be in BFE and you see this place pop up on your nearby map, I'd say go for it. We were in a time crunch but were sooo hungry, so this is where Yelp steered me. Yeah, it's just pizza, but you remember being a kid and going to those pizza places with the leather booths and they would bring you a pitcher of soda at your table? It's that type of place and I kinda liked it. The pizza was pretty good...the ingredients are fresh and the crust was thicker than I'm used to, but I love bread, so I'm good with that. It was all around cheesy goodness. I'm happy. And fat.

As a kid growing up we always loved this place and I make a trip back home every few years to have the lunch special pizza and spaghetti all you can eat!! Still great!

Excellent. Will come back again. Had Crusty's Pizza. Great toppings. Must try if you are in the area.

Surprisingly good for a pizza/pasta joint in the middle of nowhere (no offense camp verde). A must after fossil creek. Sue was awesome. Place was busy and she still made time to make us feel appreciated.

We were thoroughly impressed. The pizza was really good. Our party of 13 showed up unannounced, and Sue rocked it. Mad props to Sue! I recommend it. I think the place could use a good cleaning of the walls. We had a bunch of fun and the food was much needed after a long day of hiking. Thanks Sue.

We drive 20 min just to eat here. The crust is so good. Salads are good and generously sized.

This may be the best pizza I've ever had. Crust was perfect: chewy and light on the end, thin in the middle, just structured enough to hold the delicious fresh toppings piled high. Sauce was fresh tasting also...marinara style. Yum, yum, yum. Even my father who is critical of EVERYTHING said, "that was really good pizza."

I was back at Crustys. We had 1/2 order antipasta salad (it is enough for at least 3 or more) & medium special. The salad and pizza would be good for 3 or 4 hungry people. Husband and I took home leftovers. Love love their crust. Still my FAVORITE place in Camp Verde, nothing fancy but the kids love it. I have great memories eating here with my mom and dad. Never had a bad experience here! Both my parents are now deceased, so those memories are really important.

Me and my family love this place and have been coming here for a long time. The food is good and the prices are great. one downside is the dining room is a little cramped and when it gets busy the place fills up fast.

Too all my Arizona friends, how many times have you driven through Camp Verde? And of those time how many times have you driven off the 260 more than a mile, north or south, in search of food? Well, you should. Crusty's was a discovery I made with a friend after a trip to Fossil Creek a few years back and I haven't missed an opportunity to stop in ever since. Crusty's is a pizza joint. But it is sort of that old school pizza joint that you went to when you were a kid. It doesn't have the neon signs in the window or the fifteen page menu that some of the newer pizza places may have. It is intimate, a little dark, and just wonderful. You get the great Coca Cola plastic cups of soda and everything. There are even the domestic beer posters in the window out front. I haven't had the sandwiches but I have had some of their pasta which is pretty decent but not what you should be ordering anyway. Their pizza is good. I can't say it is great but it is the best in the area. I actually can't even recall any other pizza places in Camp Verde so maybe that isn't the hardest feat, but you get my point. I would also recommend getting some of the cheesy garlic bread. Very good starter to nosh on while you wait for the pizza. The prices are also very reasonable. What I don't quite get is the fact they don't serve wings. I thought it was like peanut butter and jelly, they just go together. It was a little disappointing but not a deal breaker. Also, they aren't the fastest game in town. I presume it is because the entire town isn't exactly running at the speed of light. If you have been through Camp Verde before, you get the feeling of slow and low just like the river that flows through it. Again, I can't fault them for that. I would rather they take the time with the food than rush it out. If you are hungry on your trip up to Flagstaff or are going the other way, I would say stop by Crusty's for a little pizza and a soda. Pretty good stuff just a little further down the road from everything else you see off the highway. Just remember to budget in a little extra time because this ain't no Pizza Hut.

My husband and son said this place had fantastic pizza. This was my first visit and I agree. Toppings and crust were fresh and very tasty. It is a whole in the wall place worth checking out.

Had the baked spaghetti 1/2 order with salad and garlic bread, very large for 1/2 order, it was good, will go back again and try pizza next time, very good customer service

I found this place through Yelp and have begun using it as a default stop when heading north from Phoenix to go camping. The special is most excellent. My son and I plan to travel to Camp Verde from Phoenix next weekend just to get the Crusty's special. Great place!

The perfect place to enjoy great pizza and AZ microbrews. Sit back and enjoy a pint or some wine with your pizza on their spacious covered porch. My boys gobbled down their pizza thanking the bubble waitress so they go play on the beautifully groomed lawn. My husband was even able to take in a pool game because the boys didn't want to stop playing in the yard. This place is a real find.

I have always wanted to try this place but the moons never aligned correctly. I was on my way towards Flagstaff and realized I forgot to bring a camp chair. You can't meet your friends at their camp spot with out a chair, that is just rude. I went to the local Bash as and they had zero chairs, so i grabbed a bag of chips and a Payday. Lil Stopped in at the local Al co and all they had was 20-25 chairs. So I figured I should eat something before I searched all of CV for a chair. I walked into Crustys and it was a little busy, families and people everywhere. I asked if they had slices and how big they are. The cook holds up 3 small slices and said he will give me all of them, for the price of 2. The cashier laughed and charged me for 1. It was $1.10 for 3 slices of pep pizza. The pizza was a cross of Barros and homemade. The dough is a hand tossed, on the thicker side. The sauce is a sweet and deep flavor. Sort of like Barros. The cheese was plentiful and the peps were good. I did feel a little like an outsider, since no one called me by my first name like EVERYONE else, but the staff was kind and attentive.

Quirky place, with murals on the walls. Small town charm. Good pizza, which is all we ordered. The iced teas were enormous, and the waitress had no problem cutting up a whole lemon for us to add extra to our teas! Super-friendly. Pizza was a bit less crisp than I like, but crust is tasty and the toppings are good. I'd guess the sausages are made by someone local? Fresh mushrooms, always a plus. The salad that was ordered by a nearby table was enormous for two people, so I'd say that's a good option if you want something more than the pie. I'll definitely stop here again, especially since they were open at 7pm on a Sunday night...not a lot of restaurants in small towns are.

Crusty's is a delicious diversion in Camp Verde! We scouted it out on the way into Coconino for an extended camping trip knowing we would want real food and carbs for the drive home at the end... The Yelp reviews convinced us this would be our welcome back to civilization meal! We were not disappointed; the pizza was out of this world, soft yet crunchy crust with great flavor, they do not skimp on the toppings, and the portions are perfect! We felt the chill of being outsiders when we first arrived and the only waitress, Gail, was slow to come take our order after the hostess provided our beverages. We must have passed the test because once Gail was at our table once, she was there often and very friendly. For such a small town that mostly only sees locals and can probably survive without my infrequent business, I'm perfectly ok with this. Bottom line... A stop at Crusty's is now permanently built into any plan we have that gets us anywhere near Camp Verde!

Second time eating here, service was slow and sat facing the kitchen, watched the cook serving up spaghetti bare handed....slim chance we will ever come back

Not bad. The crust on the pizza and the breadsticks were great. The pizza needed more sauce, but wasn't bad, especially considering where we were.

I love this place!! Great pizza, especially the white. The antipasto salad is delicious!! Lots of veggies that most restaurants don't put in salads, such as radishes, mushrooms, green peppers, and olives. Also, very generous w/the pepperoni and ham on the salad. Great prices, and they have alcohol!!

We stopped here a while back on our way home from Flagstaff and I forgot to review it. Not wanting chain food, we picked this place based on other reviews and it was well worth it. The place was busy when we walked in and we only saw one waitress, wish we would have gotten her name because she had the whole place under control and had our drinks and food on our table very quickly. We had pepperoni pizza and fettucini Alfredo with chicken. The fettucini came with salads and homemade bread sticks and everything was amazing. The portions were so big we even have enough for another meal. We will definitely be stopping again when up this way.

Been going here as long as I can remember. There are not too many options in CV and this one is good and cheap. Their crust is doughy and delicious (hence 'Crusty's...the crust is where it's at). Great salads & breadsticks too. Bacon pizza with easy sauce is my favorite.

I hate to let the world know about the best pizza around, but Crusty's is it. Yes, this is a small hamlet, but we have several places that serve pizza including a Dominos; so we aren't deprived of pizza choices. I always get mine to go, as I'm lucky enough to live in this little place, but I have eaten in the restaurant too. Service can be slow if someone doesn't show up to work, or if a local youth sports team is celebrating there, but it's worth the wait. The pizza it the best, but the bread sticks and antipasti salad are good too. Sandwiches are yummy and the pasta will do if you're craving pasta. Every time we have company in town, we share the secret of Crusty's with them. Then we get to hear how they can't wait to come back and have it again. Just so you know, they do not have a covered porch to sit under as one reviewer stated, Crusty's is in the Outpost Mall near Bashas'. It has been there for the over 20 years I've lived here, and I hope it's there for another 20 years. By the way, they have the best ranch dressing I've ever tasted, and it's great to dip your crust into. Yum!!!

While passing through Camp Verde for work, my colleague and I decided this place was a safe bet. Next to Basha's grocery store, it is well lit and easy to find. The lunch specials: a slice for about $1 or 2 slices of pizza and salad for under $5. They also offer all-you-can-eat spaghetti and pizza deals during weekdays!! The decor inside is a little bizarre, but it's bright and cheerful. The staff were very friendly and down-to-earth. It seemed they knew the names of everyone in the restaurant! Most of the patrons were senior citizens, and there were also a few families with children. My colleague ordered the Crusty special pizza and was delighted, saying it was "amazing!" The crust was baked fresh and tasty. I ordered a small white pizza with mushrooms. Yum! The prep time was minimal for our order, but we were able to taste the freshness. No exotic toppings, no fancy frills. Crusty's is a down-home pizza place with a special place in its four walls for the locals and the passers-through. Will definitely return on my next trip up north!

I don't suppose there are many pizza options in Camp Verde so this place probably has the market pretty well cornered. Never the less, my family and I decided we would roll the dice on Crusty's Pizza. If I had to base my opinion of this pizza joint on the first five minutes of our visit, I'd probably give this place half a star. Our drink server was obviously less than enthused to serve us. She didn't want to look at us, didn't smile and basically just pointed at the menu to direct us to our drink options. I told her, 'You seem really thrilled to serve us." And she said, "I'm not your server, she'll be here in a minute." So we just waited for our actual server to get our drinks. Now then, when our server arrived, everything was great. She was top notch. Nice, helpful and very inviting. 360. We had two orders of breadsticks with marinara plus a bunch of ranch that the server just dropped off for us. We had a pitcher of diet soda that she refilled for free even though the menu said refills were NOT free. My son had kids spaghetti and the rest of us had a large pepperoni and mushroom. Drinks came fast. Breadsticks soon there after and the pizza arrived right when the breadsticks were finished. The breadsticks were served hot from the oven with garlic butter and a dusting of parmesan cheese. Really good. The pizza crust around the edges was a tad too thick for me but that's probably where they get their moniker 'Crusty's'. It seemed like the edges were puffed up and the middle of the pizza was sunken in a bit. But we ate it without complaint. Our server saved the day in making this a nice outing.

Pizza was good, as was the salad. Service was friendly. Took a long time to get the pizza, but servers were attentive. A good bet in Camp Verde.

Crusty's has excellent pizza. Unfortunately when we visited they we way understaffed. The one women waiting on the entire restaurant did do a good job but was clearly overwhelmed. It was in a convenient location to get to from our hotel, just two turns off of HWY 17.

This is my lunch/dinner stop whether I am going through or near Campe Verde. I have eaten here a few times and it is always a delight. I get the cheese sticks every time, for just a few dollars you get a medium sized pizza worth of cheese sticks that has cheese as thick as the crust (not for the feint of heart....or those looking to watch their figure). Pizza is excellent and so are the subs. I would order light as they give you more food than you deserve for the price; even the salads are on the large side. My only complaint would be (and this goes for most small town restaurants) you feel like an outcast. The gal taking your order is friendly (I would differentiate, but we get the same gal every time), but this seems to be the big local hangout, and the natives tend to stare like you don't belong.

Stoped through Camp Verde after failing to find Mexican food, so figured pizza is a safe bet. Staff were EXTREMELY friendly and down-to-earth. We got the combo pizza, was okay. Camp Verde doesn't have a lot going on, so stop by this place if you're hungry and like pizza!

The place looks like a dirty spoon but ut the best pasta and pizza place on the planet. We live in flagstaff and always atop here to eat.
